The Lakeshore Radio Association is turning 50 years old, and we’re celebrating on the air with a special event station! All members are invited to operate under the association’s special event callsign K5O.
Operating Dates & Hours
- September 19 – 21, 2025
- Daily from 4:00 AM to 11:59 PM (local time)
- Reserve one or more 2-hour blocks to operate. Multiple signups are encouraged!

Operating Guidelines
- Operate on any amateur band/mode your license class permits.
- This is not just an HF radio event. VHF, UHF and LRA repeater operations are all allowed.
- Operate any station from anywhere in the country. POTA operation is encouraged.
- Identify yourself as K5O (Kilo Five Oscar) during your scheduled slot. You may identify your own call “as operator” if desired but that is not necessary.
- Please respect other scheduled operators by sticking to your reserved time.
- Electronic logging is required.
- Submit your ADI log files to the association email after your operating period.
Suggested On-Air Exchange
- Sample CQ: “CQ Special Event — Lakeshore Radio Association 50th Anniversary — this is K5O, Kilo Five Oscar.”
- Exchange: Signal report, QTH, and mention of the 50th (e.g., “59, thanks for celebrating our 50th with us!”).
